This morning I got up early to finish decorating the tree and the inside of our home for Christmas. It’s the little things that can trigger the sweetest memories. We have a gold, wired edge ribbon that has a slight dusting of glitter that we use as our garland and have used it for many years. This morning as I was wrapping and tucking the ribbon, I noticed the glitter on my hands and I thought “magic dust”.
When our sons were little they all loved Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends. We had the VHS tapes, watched the show, had all the books and of course the train set. One of our boys loved Mr. Conductors “magic dust” and had decided that the glitter from the holiday decorations and flowers was indeed “magic dust”. He would scoop it up at the store and often times put it in his pocket to later blow in the air to make magic happen. I love the happy memories that are recalled when just doing a simple chore.
I am so thankful for our now adult sons and our new daughter in love, for my incredible husband, our friends and family and all the wonderful memories of years past and am looking forward to many more happy memories.
May each of you have a blessed and joyous holiday season, no matter the holiday you celebrate. For our family it is Christmas, when we celebrate the birth of our savior.
I wonder what other happy memories will be triggered as I complete the decorating for this year.
Blessings to you.
Janet
