The Gift

A sacred gift, a rare and precious gift – how do we treat those things? Do we stand in awe or do we toss them aside like worn out clothes. Do we complain that it’s just another gift and we hope it is over with soon? Or do we cherish it, do we look for the new and wonderful opportunities that it will bring. A gift so sacred, so precious is to be cherished, to be seen as valuable, precious and wonderful. What is this gift that is so precious? This gift is a new day, waking up in the morning. Each day is like a mini resurrection, it is the dawn of a new beginning, new life, new opportunity.

It’s a chance to begin again and lay aside the past, the failures, the wrong choices. It is a magnificent and wonderful fresh start. Each day and every second of the day is a gift from our Lord. What if we woke up and thanked Him for the day, thanked Him for the opportunity to begin again, thanked Him for this most precious gift? How would that change our outlook and our day?

While we slept, God kept watch over us. He still took care of the universe, and this amazing planet we live on called earth. He took care of the birds that will begin singing as the new dawn breaks, he took care of all of the beings and things on this magnificent planet.
Instead of waking up filled with worry, fear and doubt we wake up praising the Lord for His sovereignty, for His grace, mercy, forgiveness, provision and protection.

As we lift up our eyes to the hills, we can sing praises for we know our help comes from the Almighty Lord who thoughtfully and wonderfully created everything. He made the Heavens and the Earth and all that is in it. He will not let our foot slip for He watches over us and even while we are sleeping, He does not sleep. He watches over us, protects us and provides for us. Let us wake and thank the Lord for this new day, this new chance to make a difference, the new opportunities that are before us. Let us praise Him for his strength, for His loving kindness and for being our refuge. Praise the Lord.

Lord, I thank You for this new day, thank You for the new opportunities it will bring, thank You for preparing our path and keeping it straight. Thank You Lord for always keeping your promises. Prepare us Lord for this new day. In Jesus Name, Amen.
